Artist's Statement

I’ve always been interested in the telling of stories
The way a story is told and the intimacy created between the teller and the audience.
When studying at the School of Visual Arts in NYC
I started out shooting super 8 silent portraits of my friends telling me stories. I was fascinated; one could almost hear them talking by the way their faces looked
Then I moved on to video sound portraits shot in studio of people telling stories.
All the while I kept shooting super 8 and hi 8 video of my friends and my experiences, stories of my everyday life.
I finally began talking myself and telling my own stories to the film I had collected over the years.

Before studying film fulltime I studied drawing at the New York Studio School
I believe drawing is the foundation for all art. It taught me composition, telling a story in a picture
